Townsite Marina has been part of Nanaimo's waterfront since 1995. Located at 20 Townsite Road at the southern entrance to Newcastle Channel, the marina sits within the spectacular harbour area that defines the Harbour City.
The marina provides 185 slips for vessels ranging from 12 to 70 feet, with a full-time on-site marina manager responsible for day-to-day operations and the security of the facility. Tenants have 24/7 dock access through secured gates, with key FOBs issued to all slip holders.
Townsite Marina's rates compare favourably with marinas in both Vancouver and Victoria, and the location offers something most competing facilities cannot match: direct access to Newcastle Channel and downtown Nanaimo, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, transit, and services.
Management
The marina has full-time, onsite staff who oversee operations, tenant relations and facility maintenance.

Moorage Options
Townsite Marina offers moorage on monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual terms. All slips include metered 30 amp power and water hook-up, with 50 amp power available on the large vessel pier. On-site amenities include coin-operated showers and laundry, secure storage lockers, and kayak and dinghy racks.
There is currently a waitlist for both moorage and storage lockers. To enquire about availability or to get on the waitlist, contact the marina office or submit an application online.
Nanaimo - Gateway to Vancouver Island's Best Cruising
Nanaimo sits on the east coast of Vancouver Island, approximately 55 kilometres across the Salish Sea from Vancouver. The city is a natural starting point for cruising the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and the protected waters of the Inside Passage.
From Townsite Marina, boaters have direct access to Newcastle Island (Saysutshun) and Newcastle Island Passage, with the southern Gulf Islands and the broader Salish Sea within easy reach. Nanaimo itself offers full provisioning, marine services, fuel, and all the amenities of a mid-sized city.
The city is served by BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen, Harbour Air seaplanes from Vancouver Harbour, and the Nanaimo Airport with connections to Vancouver, Victoria, and other regional destinations.
